Pre-K focuses on one theme per month of the school year. These units introduce scholars to new topics and allow them to explore and create.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten ELA teaches each of the Next Generation Reading Standards in isolation. Scholars will be exposed to both literary and informational texts and learn to independently apply each skill taught. Our school uses the Wonders Curriculum as a reference.

Unit 2 – Using Key details from the text
Unit 3 – Structure and features of a text
Unit 4 – Use of expressive language
Unit 5 – Identify Literary and Informational texts
Unit 6 – Supporting Ideas in Text
Each month the fifth grade focuses on a specific type of writing that is aligned with the Next Generation Learning Writing Standards. Scholars will learn what the writing process is and have a chance to put it to practice with a new writing task each month. They will have the opportunity to read their work aloud during our class publishing parties.

Each module focuses on a group of Next Generation Learning Standards. Scholars are taught various strategies that can be used and are encouraged to use the strategy that best works for them. Digital and physical manipulatives along with Math Center Games are used within the class to allow scholars to practice what is being taught in many different ways. Our school uses the Envisions Math Curriculum as a reference.
